Upcoming Events at AANM

This season, AANM continues to present a variety of inspiring programs centered around the theme of مثمر / muthmir: Cultivating New Beginnings.Most exciting isthe opening of Al-Hadiqa, AANM’s Heritage Garden, located on the Museum rooftop! Read on below to learn more about how you can celebrate with us!

All in-person events take place at AANM unless noted otherwise. Advance ticket purchase or RSVP is required for in-person events. Masks are encouraged, but not enforced. Please review visitor guidelines on our Visit page.

Al-Hadiqa: AANM Heritage Garden + Existence Opening Celebration
6-10 p.m. ET Saturday, June 17

Celebrate the opening of our new heritage garden on the rooftop of the Museum! Learn more about the formation of the garden that features donated seeds and plants from local Arab American community members, highlighted along with stories of their homelands. Paired with this special celebration is also the opening of Almigdad Aldikhaiiry’s new solo exhibition, كینونة – Existence. Almigdad was AANM’s artist-in-residence during January 2021, where he completed some of the works featured in the exhibit.

From 6 to 8 p.m., join us during open hours on the Museum rooftop, courtyard and temporary gallery for light refreshments and our garden offerings. At 8 p.m., we will convene in the AANM Auditorium for a film screening (film TBA!).

Eid Al-Adha Family Party

Celebrate Eid Al-Adha with AANM! FREE and open to the public, there will be fun activities for the whole family: exhibit scavenger hunt, special Eid crafts, and storytime! SURA Arts Academy Summer Camp

Iteru: Fluid Presence – Collective Drawing & Movement Workshops

كینونة – Existence by Almigdad Aldikhaiiry

Almigdad Aldikhaiiry’s solo exhibition speaks to the environment, pollution and climate change, among other themes. As a Sudanese artist, Aldikhaiiry wants to confront the global political inaction we see and questions our unease around this climate crisis. Through his vibrant and surreal imagery, Aldikhaiiry’s work invites visitors to reflect on their roles in society and responsibilities toward our planet. MORE INFO

الفلق // al-Falaq by Alia Ali

Under the AANM Dome

Launched on the 7th anniversary of the war in Yemen, الفلق // al-Falaq is a site-specific multimedia sculpture. A “museum within a museum” in the form of a Yemeni futurist starship, it carries cultural artifacts, music, dances, even languages, as it swims through space and radically imagines possibilities for the future.
