In the last two weeks, we’ve witnessed the student movement across North America lead a resurgence in the struggle for a ceasefire in Gaza and the liberation of Palestine. Students for Justice in Palestine chapters as well other student pro-Palestine student organizations are directly confronting their institutions for their direct complicity in supporting Israel and its ongoing genocide on the people of Gaza. Heeding the call to establish Popular Universities for Gaza, students are actively taking power back and building liberated spaces on their campuses.

In response to these strategic actions, administrations and governments across the country are responding with severe repression – from arrests, to police brutality, to academic discipline charges. But the movement has not backed down.

As we witness mass repression against this growing movement of students, we must come together and strategize to ensure that the student movement is convening, sharing tactics, and growing together to be able to deliver victories for our people in Gaza.

Students across North America are called upon to join us May 24-26 in Detroit for the People’s Conference for Palestine, as we lead a student track to discuss the tactics of the student movement, and build on its revolutionary history.

For over 100 years, students have been organizing for justice on campuses around the world. From Argentina to South Africa to Palestine, the university campus has always been a crucial site of struggle. Whether pushing back against zionist repression, fearmongering, surveillance, and censorship, or organising to kick apartheid off our University campuses, it has never been more important for students to coordinate and build power for Palestinian liberation!
