Tashlich Ritual & Action
End the Genocide • No Arms to Israel
Sunday, Oct 6 • 11 am- 1 pm
Milliken State Park
1900 Atwater Street, Detroit
Join Jewish Voice for Peace-Detroit to grieve the past year of U.S.-funded Israeli genocide in Palestine. Inspired by Yom Kippur’s call for collective repentance and reparation, we will engage in the ritual of tashlich (“sending away”—an ancient symbolic ceremony to cast away collective and individual sins) to mark a year of horror and call for an arms embargo now.
All are welcome to attend this Jewish-led ritual action. In line with traditional custom, please wear white, Keffiyeh, Tallit and ritual attire encouraged.
We will unite behind the simple banner:
MOURN THE DEAD,
FIGHT FOR THE LIVING:
ARMS EMBARGO NOW.
Access info:
- Masking is encouraged, we will have KN95 masks available.
- There is free street parking on Atwater and Orleans, and a gated gravel parking lot for $5.
- There are even sidewalks and level ground leading to where we are gathering; there may be travel over some grass.
- There will be limited seating and you are welcome to bring your own.
- We will have sound amplification, no ASL interpreter will be available.
- We will have light refreshments available at the end of the event, we encourage folks to bring a water bottle.
- Please show up as your body/mind is able — feel free to bring fidgets, ear defenders, etc., and leave early if needed.

| Film: ‘Israelism’
Monday, October 7 • 7 pm
Wayne State University Undergraduate Library
5155 Gullen Mall, Detroit, MI 48202
Panel includes Joshua Feinstein (Jews and Allies), JVP-WSU member Bianca Garcia, and Dr. Nidal Jboor (Doctors Against Genocide). This documentary is excellent to understanding how Zionism and unquestioning support of Israel has led to the violence and genocide in Gaza and beyond.
“When two young American Jews raised to unconditionally love Israel witness the way Israel treats Palestinians, their lives take sharp left turns. Their stories reveal a deepening generational divide over modern Jewish identity.” |

| Congregation T’chiyah is excited to host a special concert with Daniel Kahn on Oct 8.
In addition to being an opportunity to appreciate DK’s artistry with traditional and original Yiddish works, this will serve as a non-zionist outlet for grief in the wake of one year since the attack that unleashed the genocidal escalation of Israeli aggression.
Please join T’Chiyah and spread the word! ♥️www.tchiyah.org/oct8 |

Welcoming the Jewish New Year, 5785
As we grapple with the devastation of the last year — one of unspeakable loss and grief — we recommit ourselves to fighting with everything we have to end the genocide.
During these Days of Awe, we reflect on the horrors being carried out in our name, and we return to our spiritual and political calling to dismantle Zionism and build something life-sustaining and beautiful in its place.
Every life is precious.
As Jews, we believe that every person is a whole world, and every life lost an entire universe destroyed.
It is because of this unshakeable belief that we have mourned every single life lost over the past year — Palestinian, Lebanese, and Israeli — and fought at every turn against the efforts of the Israeli and U.S. governments to turn Jewish grief into a justification for genocide.
A year of unspeakable loss
Impunity brought us here.
Israel is expanding its war of extermination from Gaza to Lebanon, bringing the entire region ever closer to a state of all-out war. Yet the Biden administration continues to arm the Israeli military.
There is no question of what needs to be done: Arms embargo now.
Take action: Stop the bombs
Like our ancestors before us, we are committed to struggling for a world where all people live in freedom, dignity, and safety.
May this new year bring freedom for Palestinians and all people.
