Yalla, Dearborn fam—this one hits deep. Arab Narratives just dropped a powerful report centering community voices on intimate partner violence (IPV) in our town, and boy, does it pack a punch.
🔍 What’s Going On?
Through local art by Nada Hassan and honest conversations, the report reveals how deep silence and stigma run in our Arab-American homes. But more importantly? It sheds light on brave survivors, activists, and allies demanding awareness, support, and accountability.
A quote from the campaign speaks volumes:
“…powerful illustrations by local Dearborn artist, Nada Hassan, that highlight the prevalence of various forms of intimate partner violence from a sample of Arab American women in Dearborn…”
đź’ˇ Why It Matters Here
We’re a tight-knit community, where saying “shh, keep it in the family” sometimes takes priority over speaking the truth. But this isn’t just private—it’s our collective responsibility.
When women here experience emotional, psychological, or physical abuse, it ripples across families, mosques, schools, and holds us all accountable.
âś… The Dearborn Blog Take
- We salute the survivors and artists like Nada Hassan for breaking the silence.
- We urge community leaders, imams, and neighbors to step up, shape safe spaces, and promote healing.
- We call on allies to amplify resources—hotlines, counselors, culturally sensitive solutions—for Arab-American families.
Dearborn, it’s time to listen, stand tall, and break the silence together.
