As constituents, we are raising our voices in the wake of your vote against the joint resolutions of disapproval (S.J. Res. 41 and S.J. Res. 34), which would have blocked arms sales to the Israeli military — weapons that have been repeatedly used in attacks killing civilians in Gaza.
This week presented a rare chance for Congress to course correct on U.S. arms transfers to Israel, as the war in Gaza enters its second year with:
- Mass human rights violations documented by international agencies
- Severe restrictions on humanitarian aid
- Famine and mass starvation of Palestinian civilians
At least 60,000 Palestinians have been killed, most of them women and children, with independent estimates suggesting the true toll could reach hundreds of thousands. Every day that U.S.-supplied weapons fuel this war, America’s moral and legal standing erodes.
Key Facts:
- U.S. law prohibits arms sales to nations engaged in gross human rights violations.
- 61% of Americans now support cutting off military aid to Israel.
- Israel has ignored red lines from both the Biden and Trump administrations, escalating violence into Lebanon and threatening a wider regional war.
By voting to allow these arms transfers to continue, our Senator chose to stand with impunity over accountability.
“How many must die — often in the most horrific way imaginable — before U.S. leaders uphold their own laws and moral obligations?”
This vote deepens America’s complicity in one of the worst ongoing human rights crises of our time. We call on our elected officials to reflect on this moral failure, apply existing U.S. law, and support accountability measures moving forward.
Our community, and history, will remember who stood for human life — and who did not.
