A Conversation About Democracy with Anita Rios

One of 8 children of migrant farm workers who came to the Midwest to pick crops, and settled in the area of Toledo Ohio, I began life in deep poverty. My dad subsequently started working at the Jeep plant and became a UAW member. He remained a UAW member till his death. The lessons of poverty and of my father’s union membership inform my political values and I strive to create a community that values and empowers the people of this nation and the world.
