About Dr. Zachary Foster
Dr. Zachary Foster is an eminent scholar on the history of the Zionist Movement in the Jewish diaspora and on its origins. He holds an M.A. in Arab Studies from Georgetown University, and a Ph.D. in Near Eastern Studies from Princeton University. He is the founder of Palestine Nexus, an education and media platform on Palestine. A Senior Law Fellow at the Rutgers Center for Security, Race and Rights, Zachary is a frequent social media commentator and contributor to international media outlets, including Al Jazeera, Haaretz and TRT, the national public broadcaster of Turkey. He has written for JVP on its commitment to Anti-Zionism, and amid Israel’s bombardment of Gaza he has been instrumental in preserving Palestinian history, records and treasures through Palestine Nexus’s digital archives.

Why now?
During this time following the Jewish holiday of Rosh Hashanah, Jews around the world observe the beginning of a new year, a period of introspection and change, a time to repent for wrongs, and seek ways to mend oneself and the world. It is a time of autrocities being carried out against Palestinians in the name of Zionism to secure a Jewish state, while obliterating the Palestinian people’s lives, homes and future. We are searching for ways to end this madness propelled by Zionism.

Foster brings his wealth of knowledge to challenge common misconceptions about Zionism, including debunking claims that Zionism is a national movement for Jewish self-determination, and about the history of Jewish opposition to Zionism—including why Jewish Voice for Peace is an anti-Zionist organization.

Michigan Lawmakers and Advocates Call on Congress to End U.S. Support for
Israel’s Genocide in Gaza
Resolution to be Introduced soon
Signatures of Elected Officials and Organizations Continues

LANSING, MI — A coalition of Michigan state representatives, 47 elected officials and 28 advocacy

organizations recently announced their unified demand for Michigan’s congressional delegation to take immediate action to stop United States military support for Israel’s genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.

Their call follows mounting evidence from humanitarian groups, scholars, and international agencies that Israel’s blockade, bombing campaigns, and deliberate targeting of civilians meet the legal definition of genocide. JVP Detroit is one of a long list of advocates. Alongside today’s announcement, Michigan state representatives will introduce a resolution in Lansing calling for an arms embargo against Israel, the restoration of humanitarian aid, and the reinstatement of medical-humanitarian visas for wounded Palestinian children denied entry under Secretary Rubio’s order.

Rep. Dylan Wegela (D-Garden City) emphasized the moral urgency. “When children are being starved, bombed, and denied medical treatment, we have a responsibility to act. History will remember those who stayed quiet in the face of genocide. Congress must end U.S. complicity.”
