SIGN UP TO LOBBY In Lansing
for the Gaza Solidarity Resolution
or help from home
We’re at a critical moment. The Michigan Gaza House Resolution is ready to move. But it will only gain traction if every state representative feels the pressure from their constituents.

Here’s everything you need to act now and help move this forward:

1. Read the Resolution:

Attached is the full language of the Gaza House Resolution. Please take a few minutes to read it so you can confidently speak about what it demands and why it matters.

2. Use the Talking Points + Cheat Sheet:

Included is a short list of talking pointsHEREand responses to common questions or hesitations from reps. Use it when you:

• Call or email your State House representative (see QR code attached to find your Rep)

• Ask your networks to reach out too

• Post on social media or in community group chats

3. Take Action:

Call and email your rep and ask them to support and co-sponsor the resolution. See if they are supporting here and thank them if they have signed the letter.

Send letters

Share on social media, graphics and sample captions are included below; drop them in your WhatsApp chats, Slack channels, and IG stories.

Every call, post, and message matters. Michigan sends over $420 million in taxpayer dollars to fund Israel’s war on Palestinians, that’s money we could be investing in our own communities instead of genocide abroad.

The current “Ceasefire” is being violated daily by Israel. There is overwhelming evidence from humanitarian groups, scholars, and international agencies that Israel’s blockade, bombing campaigns, and deliberate targeting of civilians meet the legal definition of genocide. JVP Detroit is one of a long list of advocates for the Gaza Solidarity Resolution.

Michigan state Representatives Dylan Wegela, Erin Byrnes and Alabas Farhat will introduce the Gaza Solidarity Resolution in Lansing tomorrow — Wednesday, Nov 12 — calling for an arms embargo against Israel, the restoration of humanitarian aid, and the reinstatement of medical-humanitarian visas for wounded Palestinian children denied entry under Secretary Rubio’s order.

Michigan Divest delivered its petition to the Michigan Treasury and the State of Michigan Investment Board, calling for the divestment of Israel bonds from public pensions!

The petition called for an immediate halt to investing the State of Michigan Retirement System in Israel bonds and the nonrenewal of the $10 million bond upon maturity on Nov. 1st, 2025. Thousands of Michiganders, including JVP Detroit, endorsed the petition to demand divestment from Israel bonds. Read the full report here.

Thank you Lt. Gov. Garlin Gilchrist

Jewish Voice for Peace-Detroit and our community allies proudly stand in support of Michigan Lieutenant Governor Garlin Gilchrist’s courageous and accurate statement at the recent American Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) convention, regarding the genocidal character of Israel’s war on Gaza:

“This is not a matter of opinion. It is a matter of fact. This has been established by the global leaders who study genocide. This is not something we should support. American taxpayer dollars should not fund offensive weapons of war while children are starving, while medical resources are being blocked to civilians, and while lineages of families are being erased."

It is necessary to emphasize over and over again that speaking the truth about what the governments of Israel and the United States have done to Gaza is not antisemitic, no matter how often that lie is repeated by Trump, Netanyahu and their apologists and propagandists. We condemn the vitriolic responses directed at him in the media and from groups who are defenders of the Israeli government’s indefensible assaults on the Palestinian population in Gaza, as well as violent ethnic cleansing in the occupied West Bank.

Lt. Governor Garlin Gilchrist’s statement about the genocide is the simple truth. We need more of our elected officeholders to follow his courageous example.
