Speaker after speaker who spoke out at a rally in Dearborn on Tuesday to protest President Donald Trump’s plan to declare Jerusalem Israel’s capital asked a similar question: Why now and what about the peace process?
2. “Dearborn Prevails In Lawsuit That Challenged Water & Sewer Rates”
The city of Dearborn has prevailed in an attempted class action lawsuit that challenged the water and sewer rates. Wayne County Circuit Judge Brian Sullivan dismissed all claims made against the city, on Dec. 12.

The mayor of Dearborn, Michigan, joined a protest rally consisting mainly of his city’s Muslim community in denouncing President Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. Dearborn, the home of Ford Motor Co., is also home to the nation’s largest concentration of Arab-Americans, who make up 30 percent of its population. Some in Michigan have mockingly referred to the city as “Dearbornistan” for its many radical imams, signs written in Arabic, women walking down streets covered in burqas and terror suspects who have been questioned, investigated and, in some cases, convicted.

To encourage such development, Dearborn’s City Beautiful Commission honors a handful of businesses every year that show commitment to excellence through criteria such as appearance, cleanliness and landscaping. Nine businesses were lauded last week for their efforts to promote city pride through maintaining or enhancing the appearance of their properties.
5. “Dearborn teen killed in road rage shooting in southwest Detroit”
An 18-year-old Dearborn man was fatally shot Friday night in southwest Detroit after a car accident in Dearborn resulted in a road rage incident. Fatih Almasaky was killed after a road rage shooting near Vernor and Woodmere in southwest Detroit. According to police, Almasaky was involved in a traffic incident in Dearborn and the two drivers continued into Detroit. When Almasaky reportedly pulled over to the curb, the other driver fired multiple shots at him. He was taken to a hospital, but later died.
6. “Dearborn Fire Department Offers Free Smoke Detectors”
The Dearborn Fire Department wants to ensure that all city residents have a happy holiday season — so much so, that they’re willing to provide a free smoke detector and install at no charge.
7. “Ford Making Progress On Campus Transformation”
The Ford Motor Company’s transformation of its Dearborn campus is a long-term project with the idea of attracting and retaining workers. That was the message from Ford and Dearborn officials Monday at an update on the project held at Henry Ford College.
8. “Dearborn Reaches Settlement Over Fatal Police Shooting Outside Fairlane Mall”
The city of Dearborn has reached a settlement with the family of a woman who was fatally shot by police near a shopping mall in 2016. In a court filing Thursday, attorneys said they would provide details to federal Judge Bernard Friedman, but they want him to keep the information confidential and off the public record.
9. “Dearborn Heights man pleads guilty to paying bribes for medical pot permits”
One year following an FBI pot sting in a family restaurant parking lot, a Dearborn Heights man who was stung in the setup pleaded guilty to bribing Garden City officials for help with growing a medical marijuana business.

Arab-American attorney Majed Moughni from Dearborn has dropped his lawsuit against Little Caesars, after receiving racists threats directed towards him and his daughter through social media.
