The mayor of Dearborn, Michigan, joined a protest rally consisting mainly of his city’s Muslim community in denouncing President Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. Dearborn, the home of Ford Motor Co., is also home to the nation’s largest concentration of Arab-Americans, who make up 30 percent of its population. Some in Michigan have mockingly referred to the city as “Dearbornistan” for its many radical imams, signs written in Arabic, women walking down streets covered in burqas and terror suspects who have been questioned, investigated and, in some cases, convicted.

An 18-year-old Dearborn man was fatally shot Friday night in southwest Detroit after a car accident in Dearborn resulted in a road rage incident. Fatih Almasaky was killed after a road rage shooting near Vernor and Woodmere in southwest Detroit. According to police, Almasaky was involved in a traffic incident in Dearborn and the two drivers continued into Detroit. When Almasaky reportedly pulled over to the curb, the other driver fired multiple shots at him. He was taken to a hospital, but later died.

The city of Dearborn has reached a settlement with the family of a woman who was fatally shot by police near a shopping mall in 2016. In a court filing Thursday, attorneys said they would provide details to federal Judge Bernard Friedman, but they want him to keep the information confidential and off the public record.
